Transportation of a Crawler Excavator (Crawling Digger)

Transportation of a Crawler Excavator (Crawling Digger)

Transportation of excavators over long distances has its own characteristics. First of all, this is the presence of a boom with a bucket at the excavator, which, even when folded, tends to occupy the entire length of the platform. Secondly, this is the total weight of the excavator, which usually exceeds a couple of tens of tons. And, of course, the dimensions of the excavator, for which there is the need to find a special transport platform.

In November 2019, we carried out the transportation of a DAEWOO DH 180 Excavator Crawler from the Spitz city, Switzerland to the Ialoveni city, Republic of Moldova. This 23 ton excavator was 9,5 meters long and its width and height reached 2,9 meters. The main difficulty here was not so much the selection of the platform, but the choice of the optimal route.

The most picturesque alpine scenery, gorgeous mountain serpentines and many tunnels can delight anyone, but not the driver of a heavy truck. But we had routes that were even more difficult! Thanks to many years of experience of our drivers working in tandem with the logistics department of the DV GROUP, we overcame all difficult sections of the route without any problems and delivered the cargo on time!
